Recently completed:
Stripping of old leather-cloth, removal of seats, seat blocks, floor treads and lino ready for refurbishment of upper saloon. (15th Feb 2008). Platform woodwork removed ready for refurbishment (12th Mar 2008). All rotten steel work has been removed from the platform area. (20th Mar 2008). Refurbishment of rear brake system, hubs and bearings (12th May 2008). Platform steel framework rebuilt and re-fitted (15th May 2008). Cleaning and re-painting of front offside chassis, front axle and hub (24th May 2008). Rear shock absorbers and new rubber bushes fitted (Jun 2008). Re-trimmed lower saloon seats returned from upholsterers (11th Jun 2008). Near-side front king-pin upper tapered roller bearing race pressed into hub carrier (4th Jul 2008). Installation of new platform planking (9th Jul 2008). Rear partition bulkhead and lower saloon step riser filled, rubbed down and repainted to first undercoat (Aug 2008). Front shock absorbers and new rubber bushes fitted (Aug 2008). Renovation of jack storage compartment & used ticket bin beneath near-side rear seat (24th Aug 2008). Front brake & steering system overhaul, including replacement of lubrication pipe-work (4th Sep 2008). Renovation of jacking equipment (4th Sep 2008). Riveting of lower saloon floor-bearer structure, rear off-side wheel-arch and footstool for near-side longitudinal seat (7th Nov 2008). Renewal of wooden stair treads and aluminium kick-plates (10th Nov 2008). New key rubbers secured to rear wheel-arches and wing panels refitted (11th Nov 2008). Panels on rear of staircase trimmed with leathercloth and fitted and structure panel behind luggage rack trimmed with leathercloth (12th Nov 2008). Riveting of near-side rear wheel-arch structure (12th Nov 2008). Structural renovation of staircase (12th Nov 2008). Cleaning and silver painting of underside, including wheel arches. (10th Dec 2008).
Work in progress:
Renovation of lower saloon floor (2004). Engine radiator renovation (1st Jan 2006). Re-varnishing wood cappings surrounding near-side and off-side windows in the lower saloon (1st Oct 2006). Renovation of conductors locker & luggage rack (29th Oct 2006). Re-painting of upper saloon window frames (8th Apr 2007). Re-painting of upper saloon ceiling panels (4th Jul 2007). Cleaning and renovation of gear linkages, footbrake linkage, handbrake ribbon, front prop-shaft, dynamo and dynamo brackets following removal (10th Sep 2008). Removal of complete exhaust system for cleaning and painting (12th Nov 2008).
